Seminar description: One of the biggest opportunities the 2015 version of ISO 14001 has presented, is the need for leadership commitment and making sure the environmental management system (EMS) is integrated with the strategic direction of the organisation. Environmental consultancy, Ramboll Environ assisted Finning UK Ltd to transition its EMS as part of its revised sustainability strategy, engaging cross functional leadership and ensuring that the EMS contributes to Finning’s strategic goals.

Finning UK is part of Finning International the world’s largest dealer of Cat® machines, engines, equipment and power solutions. It has 37 locations in UK & Ireland and was first certified to ISO 14001 in 2003. Finning’s successful approach allowed its transition to support the development of its revised sustainability strategy and recertification to ISO 14001:2015 will take place in 2016. The approach encompassed the new requirements of leadership, context, interested parties, risk and opportunities and lifecycle.Come along to this case study seminar to find out more.

Greg Roberts, Manager, Ramboll Environ: Greg has over 15 years EMS experience and most recently represented the UK on the ISO International Technical Committee revising the guidance standard to ISO14001(ISO14004) and has already helped over 50 companies to implement or transition to the new version. He is an experienced trainer and facilitator at all levels but is particularly influential at a senior level, supporting organisations to develop sustainability strategies.

Keith Oakes, Head of SHEQ, Finning UK Ltd.: After a successful military career in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers spanning 20 years, several countries and operational tours, Keith joined Finning UK & Ireland in 1995. As an Incorporated Engineer and EH&S professional, Keith has an in depth knowledge of the EH&S challenges engineers are presented with during their daily work. For the last seven years, Keith has been the Head of SHEQ and has led the successful conversion of the line management culture to own EH&S whilst also ensuring employees are continually collaborated with and involved in the EH&S decisions and are empowered to implement the correct safety systems they develop. Keith has led Finning’s transition to ISO 14001:2015.
